This was our 1st trip to Etang de Planchon but deffo not our last, after a v,slow start due to spawning, by day four everyone had caught (phew no blankers) and the fish were starting to feed. By the end of the trip we all had new pb's, Jimmy 34'2 Jon 31'8 me 39 (that’s right Jimmy 39lb) think Jimmy had about seven 30's me 3 Jon 3 or 4 and on last day Leo got his at 30'6. Great trip, lovely host.
My only advise would be listen to Kiran + Angelo they know their lake/fish inside out.
Don’t hesitate to call them when you’re into a fish day or night they’ll come down. Thanks Kiran and Ang for a great trip.

Thank you Kiran and Angelo for the lovely week we had at in the gite in Etang de Planchon. Sadly due to the spawning no fish, but a wonderful week in great company! Even the dogs had a good time... Due to that, one of the chickens a little less.....
We hope to come back with a little bit more luck on the fish catching side.

We arrived on Sat am and the weather was a little too wet for the first 2 days and windy too.
I was the only one fishing and my son Gerald was here just to look after me and act as my Gilley and he did a tremendous job.
As last year, the fishing got off to a slow start and with the help of Gary and Angelo, I started to catch on Tuesday with two fish early morning. On Wednesday I caught my Personal Best with a fish of 31lb 4oz.
The food was great as it always is and a BBQ on Wednesday with the other guests on the lake was a great evening.
Thanks to Kiran & Angelo, I have had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed every minute as Arnold says I WILL BE BACK.

Been to France a few times but nothing compares to the hospitality and friendliness of Kiran & Angelo. They work hard to ensure you want for nothing & enjoy your fishing as much as possible. The fishing is absolutely brilliant even as we had picked the week the carp decided to spawn. New lake record at 43lb 12 oz, 4 x 20s, 5 x 30s and 1 x 40. Listen to Kiran & Angelo and you cannot go wrong. Do not be tight with the bait, these carp are huge and love a big bed of bait. Tight lines anglers.

Done a lot of fishing in the UK, this is the best venue we have fished, great reception from Kiran & Angelo. From the start they could not do enough to please you and make your stay one to remember. Also the best food I've had, anywhere. Kiran is a fantastic cook and there was a great variety of food. We also had some great catches and we will be returning next year. I would like to thank Kiran & Angelo for a great holiday and we will be back. See you next year.

Second visit here for the gang from Wigan with our adopted Scouser. Kiran is a great host and this time we got to meet her parents, Puff & Sobha.
We had a mixed bag of fishing and weather but the banter flowed and the evenings around the pit fire drinking wine were great.
Last year I did not join the 30 club but on my first evening I firmly stopped the other lads banter with a 33 lb mirror and I went on over the week to catch another three 30lb plus fish, my biggest being 34 lb 4 oz (new P.B.).
Thanks for everything, food great, animals lovely and we look forward to our return.

Our 1st time here, fantastic 1st trip, great host, the food was lovely, nothing too much trouble and lots of banter!!
A wonderful time had by us both, will defo be coming back again.
Also I broke the lake record on my 1st visit here (42 lb 2 oz) and Tom had a lovely 35 lb mirror which beat his PB of a 2lb roach!!

Great week, we were looking forward to coming back and we were not disappointed. We broke the lake record and held it for only a few days, but never mind.
Lovely fish, lovely venue and excellent host. Rest of the anglers were good fun and friendly, we'll be back.

1st time in France and what a fantastic trip, the host is wonderful.
I came on my own but feel I have left with a new set of friends.
Fishing in fantastic, broke my PB from the first fish, food is great and the facilities are excellent. The help given was wonderful, I will be back again next year (PB now 38 lb 12 ozs)

My first time in France and it was a blinding trip, first class host with lots of banter and cockeral chasing was definitely different.
I will be coming back again next year.

What a great week! Started and ended my week well with plenty of carp landed. The food is fantastic and the anglers area and care and consideration to the anglers needs are second to none.
Nothing is too much trouble for the owners and they make week very enjoyable indeed.
A fantastic water for all types of angler that want a bend in the rod.
The fish are in an immaculate condition and fight like crazy.
All in all a great week and I would recommend it without hesitation.

What can be said about Planchon? Although I did not have the captures Daren and Paul did, I thoroughly enjoyed my week.
The owners are lovely people and nothing is too much trouble.
The food is out of this world and as Daren said, I have had many food packages in France but what you get here is absolutely amazing.
The week went far too quick as usual but I enjoyed every minute.
If you want to put a bend in the rod, in good company, peaceful surroundings and eat like a king then don't hesitate to visit.
I will definitely return.

Just got home after a week at Planchon.
We drove down from Calais and inadvertently took in the sights of Paris which delayed us a little but were soon on the banks of the lake.
After a very warm welcome and a quick drink we were shown round the lake and already done the draw in the minibus we decided to fish the four corners.
I won't bother going into details about the catches swims etc as thats been covered already.
The swims are well set out and all have plenty of room.
The first thing that struck us was that nothing was too much trouble and with the offer little things like milk, bottled water, squash all being available for our use free of charge throughout the week we were amazed.
Before settling into our chosen swims, Kiran went through the menu for the week.
I was personally amazed at the menu and the plan to have a BBQ that we soon discovered would include around 6 meats including venison and fresh king prawns.
The breakfasts were amazing with a choice of pretty much anything we wanted.
We even had a choice of types of sausages and the breakfast was followed by croissants and as much tea/ coffe and juice we wanted.
As the week went on it was obvious that Kiran was a very good cook and every meal was amazing and the puddings, all home made even better.
We certainly wanted for nothing and having been to many lakes and had the food package this is by far the best I have personally ever experienced.
The anglers area had everything we needed including fridge, freezer, kettle, shower etc etc.
It was apparent that the owners would not allow the anglers want for anything.
I had one of the best weeks fishing I have ever had and accompanied by good mates on a lake to ourselves with the care and attention shown by the owners along with the 2459lb of carp I can not recommend the place enough.
What I would say is the lake is a place that you will catch fish but you do need to work for them.
Out of the four of us, we were all using different tactics and 3 out of 4 reaped the rewards.
All in all, we wanted for nothing, caught loads of fish, enjoyed the company of the owners and had a good laugh which is exactly what we wanted.
Thank you very much for a fantastic week and the two records we broke were a bonus although we were desperate to have the biggest catch rate in a week which we only achieved at 2.30am this morning.

Just arrived back from Etang de Planchon this was my 2nd visit with my son and my gf…Well what can I see the work what has be done is amazing the anglers area is spot on the, netting looks like its been a huge success...the amount of carp I have seen landed on the bank this week was unreal and all in tip top condition. 20 fish landed by myself and 7 by my 10 year old son on 1 rod....a new pb for myself at 38lb, the food is the best I have ate ever I will not eat that good again this year, well not till October when I am back at Etang.

Just got back from a 5 day trip, this was our second time this year and it was brilliant.
Food - top notch, belly busting meals every day 10/10
Fishing - 16 fish in the first 24 hours, I was happy to see the fishing slow down a bit towards the end of the week so I could catch up on my sleep!! Caught 4 30’s biggest was 37lbs so was over the moon!
Overall it is a very good, friendly venue and there is nothing I can complain about apart from putting on 2 stone after all the food I’ve scoffed and returning home shattered after been up catching fish most of the nights!
They are always on hand to help, pass on some tips and advice!

Just got back from my second trip of the year and once again really enjoyed myself. Got a 35lb mirror within the first hour which was fantastic and a new pb! Food was excellent, no complaints! Would recommend to all!!

What a fantastic week's fishing at Etang de Planchon. Kiran was a great host and made us all feel welcome. Lots of advice on where to fish and she pointed out each swims "Hot Spots" as she called them. The food was great, I am a very fussy eater but all the meals were great. My favorite was your Chinese, much better than anything I have had in England. Met some great people and we all agreed to meet up again next year, can't wait. If you have not visited this place and have read the reviews I would advise that you book up as soon as possible as spaces are going fast. You won't be dissappointed.

Kiran keep up the good work, you have a fantastic fishing venue. See you all next September.

Well where I start about our holiday to Etang de Planchon!
from the moment we got picked up from the Limoges airport we could tell we were in safe hands they were so friendly and then we got to Etang de Planchon and Kiran was so pleased to see us and explained everything to us in great detail even gave tips on how to do our rigs then we got a tour of the premises and the lake and was even shown the best spots to fish and what bait to use.
Then there is the food it is amazing every one should try the calzones there to die for, the service at tea time and breakfast is second to none. You don’t need to ask for anything it is right there for you and as soon as you finish your drink it is filled again, then you got the fishing, you can’t help but catch fish there, and you pull out some beautiful monsters that give you such a great fight.
I was so educated on fish care and safety and even shown how to take a decent photo of your catch, they are on call 24/7 to help you land and photo your catch and return safely. The weather turned a bit worse for wear and poured for 2 days and all our clothes got soaked, so they even did our washing and ironing so we had dry clothes to put on.
A few of us fancied a day out so they dropped us off in town and gave us a map and highlighted some places of interest and then picked us up just in time for tea. Met some great guys and hope we all become good friends, we have all booked up for next year can’t wait. It was just like visiting your Aunty as they make it such a great holiday and I am going to tell all my friends about it.

It was mine and my son, Cole's first fishing holiday to France and it exceeded all our expectations with both of us smashing our UK PB's by some considerable distance. Cole landed a 27lb mirror, almost as big as himself and I a 27.4. The condition and the look of the fish were exceptional due to the excellent guidance given to us by our hosts on how to care for and handle large and sometimes unruly carp. No amount of effort was too great and we were made to feel welcome from the off. A special thanks to our hosts for the food, which was both tasty and plentiful, in fact I can safely say the best we've ever had !! A big thank you to our hosts for making it a holiday to remember and many thanks to the other anglers whom we met that week take care and we'll be sure to see you all next year. For anyone thinking about a carping holiday, experienced anglers or otherwise I would highly recommend this venue. Great fishing, great fish, great hosts, great pets, great food, great time!! The first time in France fishing for a week is quite daunting to most anglers, worrying what bait to use, how much tackle you will need and how to entice the big French carp onto your hook. The owners and mangers of Etang de Planchon were brilliant, they were on the phone and answering emails to any of the questions I had leading up to my trip and reassuring me on any worries that I had.
Once we got to our destination they where on hand helping us as much as they possibly could with luggage, getting set up in our swims and making sure we had everything we needed to ensure we had the best week of fishing in France with minimum stress. It was great.
Don’t get me wrong the fishing was hard at times due to the weather being so unpredictable but that’s why we fish!!!.
Etang de Planchon is a beautiful little set up just a short distance from Limoges airport. The lake and swims are well kept up and really good sizes to house your bivvy and tackle with comfort. The carp are well looked after and range in all shapes and sizes. They also fight like demons.
The routine for breakfast and dinner was perfect and let me tell you, the food was amazing. Home cooked delights which helps a great deal with your energy levels while fishing for a week.
All in all the owners, fishing venue and especially the food were great. Well worth the trip and money and rest assured I will be revisiting in future.

This has been the best holiday. I came by myself for the 1st time and who'd of thought I'd make such great new friends. The hosts are very special people, they make the holiday perfect and couldn't have asked for anything more. The 1st of the two weeks was a very busy week, landing 34 fish, I started to get tired and a little clumsy, everything I touched seemed to break (radio, umbrella, bivvy and even the night light didn't make it)..oops! The second week was a little quieter after my wife Carrie arrived and the tribe had left.
Myself, Colin & Mark are all back next year which I'm looking forward to so much.
The food, the company and the fishing has just been amazing and we can't return soon enough. Wish I had time to write everything but we have to rush off. 10/10 holiday. Love the place and people a lot. Love Ross & Carrie xxx

What can I say about Etang de Planchon!!
The hosts where great and couldn't have ask for more from them.
The home cooked food was just to die for! If you have a trip here you have to have the food, as for the fishing it IS 2nd to none if the fish are on the feed!!
We even met a new fishing buddy in Ross, so myself, Colin and our new friend Ross have already booked to go back next year and yes we will be deff having the great food ha ha.

First time fishing in France, Colin & Mark are both experienced fishermen. My PB was a 4lb common in the UK, woo smashed my PB landing a 36lb 14oz mirror, kicking the guys arses!
The guys here are so helpful, great food, love all the animals keeping us entertained. Had a great time.

Returned from Planchon after my two week stay. Fishing was much harder than last year due to the weather with high pressure causing the fish not to play ball.
Was impressed on how the lake is maturing since it opened last year, will really look good in years to come.
As usual the hospitality here is awesome, Kiran’s cooking is to die for, ask for her home made sauce on Turkey escallops, the BEST.

We returned a week ago from a two week stay at Planchon....our 2nd visit.
The fishing was harder than last year, with high temperatures and high pressure being the contributing factors. Regardless, we managed 51 fish between 4 of us with several 30's. As always the food was exceptional, and when you are as fussy as me, it needs to be. Kiran could not have done more to make our stay enjoyable....and feed me in particular.
We also enjoyed a day out from the lake with Kiran acting as our guide. A very relaxing and enjoyable two weeks, and very much needed.

Thank you for a wonderful time at Etang de Planchon. I was a bit apprehensive before the trip as it was my first fishing trip to France. That disappeared the moment I was collected from the airport, your hospitality was brilliant, and I felt at ease straight away. The fishing was quite tricky at times this week but managed to have a few at the start of the week then had a difficult couple of days as did the rest of the guys fishing but I managed to sneak a 30 out on the last night.
The fish were immaculate and fight like demons right to the net, got a few soakings trying to get pics as well, especially the common. The food was top notch especially brekkie and nothing was too much trouble, day or night. As for the animals they kept me entertained all week. For me the holiday was perfect, great food, great fishing, superb company and lots of laughs on the way.
Can't wait to come back

Just returned from a fantastic week at Etang de Planchon.

The fishing
It was hard this week with lots of high pressure and hot weather in the day, most catches came at night. I had 4 fish all mirrors the biggest 24lb, my father in law had 7 a common and 6 mirrors biggest 28.12lb mirror.

The lake
It is in the very beautiful and tranquil Limousin region of France, very peaceful and stocked with a good head of lovely healthy looking carp. It has hardly any weed with a thin layer of silt so kind on rigs, many features to cast to.

The food
Well don't know what to say other than yummy. Kiran, our host, is a fantastic cook who considers all of your dietary needs, her breakfast was a defo fav of mine as well as her BBQ and chilli sauce.

The host
Nothing was too much trouble, whether your needs be help or advice on fishing the lake or something from the shops. As far as I'm concerned they made the week special so a big thanks to Kiran, Cookie, Leo, Jasper and Asterix you guys made us feel at home.

Great week, Great hosts and food. Had a really good weeks' fishing with the fish in great condition. Nothing was too much trouble for Kiran, will defo be coming back. Good luck and Tight lines.

Thank you for an amazing week at Etang, We have loved every minute of it. For our first trip to France we were extremely nervous of what to expect, Etang made all of these nerves disappear by being there every step of the first few days explaining everything along the way. Etang work extremely hard whether its the middle of the day or by being called on the walkie talkies in the middle of the night taking great photos of fish that have being caught for you to keep. The weather was extremely hot although still had a great week with the fish, the first fish being 37lb 4oz breaking my UK PB of 17lb 1oz :) Josh my son who is 9 years old beat his UK PB of 10lb by landing his first fish of the week at 30lb 14oz,
The food was just amazing, huge portions and well cooked, Etang cater for the most fussy of eaters by ensuring you have the food you like to eat.
The dogs are just gorgeous and Josh was trying his hardest to pack them for the return home.
Loved the place that much we have already rebooked April and October for 2013 :) It cant come quick enough......

We hebben bij jullie een geweldige vakantie gehad. De gite was prima in orde. Het warme onthaal en persoonlijke aandacht was buitengewoon!
Het enorme geduld waarmee Kiran zijn gasten helpt is bijzonder te noemen.
Het is ook zeer plezierig dat je je spullen kunt laten liggen.
We wisten niet wat we zagen toen Kiran de bedden opmaakte in de vijfsterren tent!
Ondanks de warmte heeft Kees 16 vissen gevangen en Chris 17.

Alles bij elkaar was het zeer geslaagd voor ons. De thuisreis verliep voorspoedig dankzij jullie route via Rouen.

Having not done anything like this before, I was very worried whether or not myself and Albert would be able to cope with this type of holiday at the age of 75(Albert) and 70(myself), but we need not have worried as the hosts were so helpful, it was no trouble for them to do anything we asked them and more. The first two days were a little wet and the fish were not coming out so I moved from Harrier swim to Owl and within the next day had caught my first 3 fish. The host was so helpful with the fish care and weighing, nothing was too much trouble.
The food was out of this world with different dishes to try everyday and on Wednesday a BBQ to round of with was tremendous. Kiran was the perfect host and looked after us so well, I just hope I can do this again one day, health permitting.
I speak for Albert also as I know he has had the trip of a lifetime and a fish of a lifetime to cap it all off, a 31 lb common. Thanks again for making two old men very happy.

First time in France with an unforgettable experience.
Fishing - weather didn't do us any favours, start of the week was slow for Mike but things improved towards the middle and the opposite for Lee. Both of us improved on our PB's and had an average of 2 fish per day, so overall we were very happy.

Equipment, facilities & hospitality -
The food is awesome, every meal was perfect and if anything we were over fed.
The equipment and facilities are good and were above what we expected.

Overall, it was a cracking week, food was great, fishing was good considering the weather, this was topped off with a great sociable atmosphere created by Kiran.

Had a fantastic week. The fishing has been a bit slower than we expected, this was due to a band of high pressure and hot weather. In spite of this we had a catch of sixteen carp ranging from 18lb to 37lb.
The scenery is fantastic. The meals and host were outstanding. Thanks for a brill week.

Even before arriving at Etang de Planchon the service I received was brilliant. The information and level of communication was fantastic. When we arrived, we were greeted to a very warm welcome and instantly made to feel welcome. Kiran has been a great host and nothing has been too big a deal to ask for. This was my dad’s first time fishing in France and the help and guidance he received was second to none. The host was available at anytime, day or night and assisted us on many occasions. The food was fantastic, the hospitality was brilliant and the fishing was unbelievable. I managed 22 fish, my biggest was 36lb. I've fished in France a few times and this trip far exceed any other trip I've been on in the past. The dry humour kept us entertained all week and the cooking was brilliant. I've already booked up for next season. To sum it up, a cracking fishery, cracking people and I can't wait till next year.

As a novice carp angler and fishing for the first time in France I was a little apprehensive. I needn't have been. The professionalism and friendliness at Etang de Planchon was fantastic and Kiran made this a week to remember; 17 fish averaging 20lb+, great hospitality, great food and an all round memorable week. We're coming back in 2013. Thanks.

My first time Carp fishing holiday and to be honest never stayed out for a week even back in England. I was dead excited coming here and could not wait. I have done my week here and can say I have had a great time, smashed my record, even doubled it and couldn't believe how good the service was. Whenever we needed anything or wasn't sure, Kiran would be there to help.
It was a fishing holiday but I can say the food was the best I've had anywhere and would love to see you again next year and hopefully smash my record.

I'll start this off in the original words of "What can I say about Etang de Planchon?" If I were to sum it up into a single word the first that springs to mind would be EXTRAORDINARY! But there are many words I could use to describe such a wonderful part of this world! Being my first visit to France, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Pictures and previous reviews can only paint a vivid image of what I thought Etang de Planchon was going to be like, but none could have prepared me for possibly one of the best holidays I have ever had. The hospitality of Kiran, Cookie, Leo, Jasper, Astrix, the 5 chickens and the cock is already more than enough to make my visit want to be a re-occurring thing, so if you throw 7 days of some of the best fishing I've ever experienced into the equation as well, then I can see this place becoming a 2nd home! I literally couldn't have asked for more. The food was fantastic. Always plenty and a special mention to the puddings! WOW! Could go on and on explaining how amazing this place is, however I'll continue this on my return visit next April! Also would just like to add that I SMASHED Theo at fishing. Thank you for such an incredible time. xx

I knew from the moment we arrived at Etang de Planchon that I would have a superb week; Kiran's warm welcome is the finest I have experienced on any holiday. However the week far exceeded my expectations and fishing anywhere else will never be as spectacular. Whilst teaching my friends; Sam Bell & Lee Wilson to fish, I had little time to get my rods in the water but still managed to catch a few cracking fish that smashed my P.B and introduced me to a higher level of carp fishing that I had not experienced before. In addition, I have been opened up to the wonderful world of cheese! I cannot wait to go home and introduce cheese to my family, if only I could remember the ones I tried. Kiran's willingness and hospitality to go the extra mile has made this trip one I can never forget. I look forward to seeing you in April next year - my new friend. All the best X

From day one, you cannot ask for any more from the host! For my first time in France, it has been one of my best holidays. The fishing is amazing and I can't see myself going anywhere else in France for a good few years. Etang de Planchon has exceeded my expectations and is a wonderful lake. Well where do I start? From the first day to the last was amazing, the hospitality was amazing and the food was excellent, we couldn't ask for more.
The fishing wasn't with us due to the hot!! weather but we all managed to catch quite a few fish and our 2 top fish were over 37 & 38 lb.
We look forward to our return next year.

We had a great week, the fishing was fantastic, the hospitality outstanding and I personally blew away my PB with a 36lber !

Accommodation was first class and the equipment hire made life hassle free. Bait boats are worth hiring as they seemed to produce more fish.

I would recommend the fishing even if you are a seasoned professional.

My gang, who I think came straight out of a care home, were 6 lads from Wigan. Carl, Steve, Clive (AKA Teamer) Billy B, myself Karl (Darbo) and of course the scouser in our gang, Ian.

What a wonderful experience we all had, from booking the holiday right to the time we went home nothing was too much trouble for Kiran. The organization was first class, the tackle we all hired was excellent and the food and cases of beer supplied never ended.

We all caught personal bests up to 38.6 lb and all apart from me are now in the 30 lb club, my biggest being 28 lb 12 oz, there's always next year.

From me, thanks for a relaxing and wonderful weeks fishing with great company and lots of special evenings sat out looking over the lake with a bottle or two of French wine. The highlight being the barbi night where we all had so much fun.

Forgot to mention the animals. Cookie and Leo, two gorgeous dogs, Jasper and the new kitten, Astrix, and of course my friend Rooster the cock, enjoyed your company.

June 4-9th 2012
Well where do I start, my son & I arrived on the Monday and thats where it began. The lake is beautiful, all the swims are large, I fished Kestrel which was massive. Started fishing Monday afternoon and caught within the hour, myself and my son both beating our P.B's. Everything is spot on, from the bivvy, tackle, bait, everything!
Now the cooking, back on my diet, breakfast is great, dinner even better if thats possible! We will definitely be coming back. Nothing is too much trouble for Kiran who gave me some good advice regarding landing the fish & holding them, Brilliant. Just one last thing, my son brought with him a good old english tummy bug and Kiran was great with tablets and toast to help him, oh and toilet rolls (lol). No bad comments at all. Great time - see u soon.

Fourth visit for the boys, first for the rest of the clan, stayed in the Gite, Fantastic! A massive thanks for making us girls & Etan feel at home. The food has been amazing (think I need lessons! thanks for being such a gracious host xx

3/06 - 08-06/12 Well my first time fishing here without my dad at the same swim and all I can say is, it was amazing; the fishing, size of fish and most of all the great food. I have not been able to get the lake record again but I have come close to it. I look forward to coming back with my dad in October this year.

Where do we start? From the first day to the last day, Kiran made the weeks fishing fantastic.
The warm friendly atmosphere makes the fishing even better and Kiran could not do enough for both of us.
The fishing lake itself is spectacular and the quality of the fish was second to none.
Leo, Cookie & Jasper were great company and great entertainment and we are looking forward to meeting Astrix next year.

Between us we had PB's of 38.12 lb and 35 lb as well as 4 more 30's, unbelievable fishing.

We are both looking forward to returning next year for another fantastic fishing holiday.

Kiran is special. The pro-active approach is excellent with phone calls and e-mails replied to immediately, dealing with everything from bookings, flight info, food choices and a comprehensive list of things to bring.
It was our first visit to France for the fishing and we were apprehensive but needn't have been. We were welcomed at the airport and chatted to on the drive to Etang de Planchon making us feel at ease and welcome. We took the scenic route which was great. On arrival at Etang de Planchon, we were first met by the lovely dogs; Cookie & Leo (we didn't see Jasper till the next day).
Kiran is fantastic. As mentioned by other guests, nothing is too much trouble, she goes out of her way to make everything perfect for your holiday. Tony is especially grateful for the supply of baccy and endless packs of fag papers.
Fishing - absolutely amazing, caught new P.B. mirror 38 lb 10 oz plus 16 other good fish, all good fighters. I fish carp in the UK and my previous PB was a 32 pounder in Gran Canaria. Equipment provided is first class.
Food - no complaints at all. Lovely quality and very well cooked and presented. Tastes catered for with everyone, nothing is too much trouble.
We stayed in the Gite which is perfect, had everything we needed, didn't spend too much time in it!
All in all, we had a fantastic week, weather was kind to us and we both look forward to coming back.

Had an awesome time, it was my first time in France and had the idea I would blank. But 22 fish including 4 x 30lb fish, I can't complain. Thanks Kiran for all your help and advice and everything you did for us, i.e the head torch for Connor and allowing him to fish at the last minute.
The fishing was excellent, food was great and I'll hopefully be back next year :-)

My 1st trip to France fishing, Kiran could not have been more welcoming. The tips and knowledge of the lake were first class. I was very nervous fishing for big carp and handling big carp but the host helped and showed me what to do. This filled me with confidence.
The support given both day and night (no matter what time) was well over my expectations, also the tips on taking a good photo has meant I have some fantastic mementos.
The food was top notch and plentiful, better than what I have at home! As for the fishing, this was fantastic. I caught more than I could have imagined (5 x 30+lb) and completely smashed my PB (37.11 lb).
I could not fault the total experience and look forward to coming back.

Well what can I say about this fantastic venue. The fishing was brilliant, broke my PB with a beautiful 37lb mirror and 20+ fish ranging from mid 20's to pushing 30's. All the hired tackle we used in top condition and the swims were set up perfect.
The food and hospitality were out of this world. My words can not do this stunning venue justice. Could not find a fault in the whole week.

I had such a great time, I was a novice to some extent before I came to the venue, but with all the help and guidance given on site.. Well what can I say? From a PB of 17 lb to a new PB of 36.14 lb.

The food was great, the hospitality fantastic, I am already looking forward to the BBQ night on our next visit (plenty of food and great conversation).
The Gite was spotless and the facilities in the Gite were great.

I am so privileged to have met some great, friendly people.

To sum up the food was great, fishing great, host great, I had a lovely time and I will be back.

This was my 3rd time to France and my brother in law's 1st time and although the weather was horrible at times, well most of the time, this was easily the best France Fishing experience I have had.

First of all the fishing, now I’m not the most skilled angler going and neither is Lee but between us we managed to bank 59 fish with only a few high doubles, mostly stunning twenties and 6 thirties. The biggest was 37.10. The fish were immaculate and certainly come Friday my arms and back hurt from hauling. We had no complaints at all about the quality of the fish and fishing in general for two noddies like us we were spoilt for choice. Also you don’t need to fill it in, Lee had all his fish using just 2 kilo of boilies and I only used 6 kilo. And the fish are hard fighting carp.

The swims were large and comfortable and the tackle provided was excellent as we went for the all inclusive option including airport pick up. Batteries were swapped as and when needed and what I loved was we had walkie talkies to talk to each other and Kiran as and when required. Even if all three rods were wiped out or a picture of a fish was needed in the middle of the night in the pouring rain, it was accommodated.

Kiran's cooking is amazing - in fact I brought one recipe home to make the wife as I was simply blown away by the Calzone. Meals for the week were lasagne, calzone, curry night with 3 curries to choose from and home made onion baji's, cottage pie, turkey escalopes in white wine sauce and pork in a tangy pepper sauce. But best of all was BBQ night where we had venison, pork, beef, chicken, fish, sausages - there was no room for the burgers offered

Nothing at Etang De Planchon is ever too much trouble and can't wait to go back, and we will. The only criticism I would have is we actually had to leave at the end of the week.

Bottom line is if you have considered it, thought about it, or even just looked at it, take that step and book it. I just can't see how the hospitality can be topped, backed up with good fishing and stunning fish.

Thank you Kiran, Cookie, Leo and Jasper, already can't wait to see you all again.

3 days, 28 fish and 23 neted! We knew what to expect when we arrived and this time round was even better than the last.

More beautiful food to taste, BBQ was wicked! More fish caught than our last 3 day visit and Kiran was as helpful, as lovely and of course as beautiful...lol...as ever.
Back and forth collecting bags, replacing batteries. Nothing was too much trouble.. Thank you.

As for the fish, well what can I say? THEY HAD GROWN!! Largest mirror was 35 lb 1 oz and the largest common was 34 lb 2 oz, what a stunning fish.

This was my first time to France, not knowing what to expect.
I was blown away by both the fishing, which was amazing, and also by the hospitality, I couldn't be made to feel more welcome.
Hope to return soon for some quality time at a very friendly venue.

I fished 14th to 21st of April, and I was expecting a nice warm week with a few fish. What I got was a week of extremes, but not at all warm! The week started off with a very strong and, of course, very cold North East wind, with pressure heading towards a High! The High did arrive and brought with it FROST, minus 5 to minus 6C! White rods, white bank and landing net frozen to the bank! The wind then went South Westerly, a warm wind?, NO a cold wind, which was again very strong and of course we had loads of heavy rain!
That was the bad news; the GOOD news was that the venue was 1st class, a lovely little lake with super swims. The kit was first class and the food, prepared by Kiran, was superb! I can honestly say I have never eaten better in my life. It was wonderful.
As for the fishing, not that easy, but, I did catch 10 fish, the smallest 16lb 10oz, the biggest 37lb 13oz and the rest good to big 20's. I was very pleased.
That week around 60 fish came out, 6 x 30's, biggest 38lb 14oz. What excellent results, despite the conditions.
I must add that the company, Les, Clinton, Chris and, of course we did have CARP RADIO (compliments of Chris) made the week, despite the weather. Chris and CARP RADIO were available 24hrs a day and so was Kiran, to take those excellent pictures of all the fish you caught.

All in all a brilliant week and I have and will keep on recommending Etang-de-Planchon.
I hope to return and bring my Brother, for his first taste of carp fishing abroad!

I arrived in nice sunshine and it was great to be back, although it felt strange because my family wasn't with me this time.
I started slowly when everyone before me seemed to be reeling them in left, right and centre, the weather was all over the place (no snow though).
Last year I broke my PB twice in an hour and leaving with a PB of 32.6 lb, this year totally smashed it with a 38.14 lb mirror.
Great company with me in Colin, Clint & Chris, they made the stay fun.
Fishing was good considering the conditions, food and host need to improve as excellent is no longer good enough...lol.

Before we arrived we started out wondering if we would catch any fish at all, 47 fish later and we can't believe it!!! What fishing, literally unbelievable…
Kiran was fantastic, we couldn’t have asked for better, she even provided a couple of parties and the food was first class.
Jake managed to get a PB of 34.7 lb, which considering he came here with a PB of 10 lb, is amazing. He can’t wait to come back next year. I can’t wait either as I need to try again to get in the 30+ club.
My PB of 28.10 lb was more than I had ever imagined so I am over the moon.
We also made lifelong friends with Cookie & Leo the dogs, both lovely animals and I would love to take them home.

To sum up our visit to Etang de Planchon “Simply the Best”. See you next year.

What a fantastic experience!
It was my first time to Etang De Planchon and it certainly won't be my last. The host was absolutely amazing and whenever there was a problem, it would be resolved instantly. As my parents stayed in the Gite, they had a great time, good facilities and the hospitality was second to none and they especially enjoyed the last night on Kiran's Birthday. The fishing was fantastic apart from the weather at the end which got cold and wet, but that didn't stop the fish ending up in my weigh sling. I opted to fly and hire which was hassle free and Kiran made sure it was. The fishing tackle was of great quality and so was the fishing as well. I fished Falcon and as it was Mark, Jake and I on the lake, we were able to cover pretty much any part of the lake. As I arrived on Friday, I was able to get some tips from the John, Kelvin and Jacko which was a great and helped me prepare where I was going to place my bait.

I opted for a bait boat for the week which helped me place my bait in the exact location even in the middle of the night when it was pitch black. My tactics included a standard combi rig with extra tubing on the eye of the hook to kick it into the carp's mouth. Baiting wise I definitely think a big bed of bait which consists of pellet with hemp and also particle worked a treat. Small beds of bait also worked but rarely the big fish were caught using this tactic. During the week I managed to haul 33 carp, my biggest was a 37lb 12oz mirror. I also bagged 5 thirties which all beat my pb. The bait was mainly trigga boilies but I also tried the vortex as well. These baits were tipped with either the infamous fake corn or small 12mm pop ups which included white chocolate or the buchu berry. I used some different liquids including a bloodworm liquid and the new korda goo which caught me my new pb common of 35lb 40z.

So if you are looking for a place to go fishing in France whether it's your first time or not I would look no further. Etang de Planchon is the perfect place where the size of the lake isn't daunting, your reels and alarms will be screaming and you are looked after by the just amazing people as well as having two gorgeous dogs Leo and Cookie who will brighten up your day when they come and greet you. I will definitely be seeing this place next year.

Well what can I say? I have just returned from my second visit to Etang de Planchon and as before it was more than I expected it to be.

Me and Kelvin almost didn’t make our first trip last year but we were glad we got everything sorted to go, we arrived not knowing what to expect, we didn’t expect such a well run place with a down to earth host.

The food was amazing, the fishing was better than we imagined and we wanted for nothing, there was nothing that was too much trouble for Kiran. We both broke our PB’s on our first trip and we left already having reserved the opening week for this year.

Since our first trip we had been banging on to our mate Jacko about how good it was and he decided to come with us. He didn’t believe us how good it was, at the end of our visit he said it was better than we had explained. Again the hospitality and food were excellent and again Kiran couldn’t do enough to make sure we wanted for nothing.

Jacko’s PB in the UK was 15lb and obviously broke that with his first catch of a 22 lb 8 oz mirror, now after a week his PB stands at a 35 lb mirror.

Kelvin’s PB last year was 28 lb after last year and now it’s 31 lb 14 oz.

My PB last year was 28 lb 2 oz, I was eager to beat it this year, hoping for a 30. I started fishing on Saturday on big beds of pellet, hemp & maize with a handful of boilies thrown in. I beat my PB on Sunday a 29 lb carp, still fishing on big beds and on the hair I had a 12mm bloodworm boilie with a 10mm shellfish pop up. I then smashed my PB with a whopping 38 lb 7 oz mirror.

On Wednesday, fishing with a 20mm Trigga tweaked for Etang de Planchon and a 10mm shellfish pop up over a large bed of pellet, hemp & maize, I managed to break the LAKE RECORD with a 40 lb mirror.

The bigger fish seemed to respond to big beds of bait as the 3 of us pulled in several 30 lb plus fish.

Sorry to Sam Lane for taking the lake record from him, he had it a few days earlier but he says he will be back in June to take it back.

Thanks Kiran for another fantastic holiday and we will see you again next year, maybe next year you will have worked on our improvement that we mentioned on both trips… I mean Sky TV & Sports in the bivvies is not too much to ask is it??

Season 2 opening week was our third visit here as we came twice last year. Previous two trips were fantastic and really didn’t expect to better them, but guess what? … We did!!

I won’t bang on about the hospitality as by now you’ve probably read the previous reviews, so you will know that you want for nothing and the host is superb.
Instead let’s talk about the fishing.

We arrived and had our 4 rods in by 1pm on Friday, by 11.30pm we had caught eleven fish, the biggest being a 31 lb 4 oz common. Twelve more fish followed over the weekend, mainly mid twenties.
Monday was the main day though, it was very warm throughout the day without much action, only one fish up till 4pm. We then had a large BBQ and finally got all 4 rods out by 7pm that evening.
7.30pm first fish at 28 lb 2 oz, 7.45pm second fish at 24 lb 6 oz, then came the third fish at 8.20pm it was 39 lb 10, a NEW LAKE RECORD!!! Next 9.30pm 27 lb 2 oz, then at 11.30 a 25 lb 2 oz fish and to cap it all, at 11.45pm a 35 lb fish.
We left having caught 40 fish totalling over 950 lb.
What a trip.

My week at Etang de Planchon was brilliant. The hospitality, the food and the host were brilliant along with the great fishing, that is why I will be returning in 2012 for 2 weeks.

Amazing place, wonderful host

We stayed at this Gite in late Oct, Kiran (the host) was so welcoming and more than accommodating to our needs, we needed both a mid-week and early check in. Also during our stay Kiran was so helpful, on-hand to offer information if needed even meals were available if required. Nothing was too much and we really appreciated it.

The Gite itself was lovely, had everything you could need for a short or long stay. Set in the idyllic French countryside, overlooking the lake. It was perfect for a relaxing holiday and we couldn’t have asked for more.

The nearby town Chateuponsac, is a lovely quaint place just a short drive away.

This really felt like a home from home, a combination of a beautiful setting, lovely Gite, fantastic host and all the amenities you could need. We would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone looking to get away from it all! We’ve already booked in to go again….thanks Kiran!

In the 38 years of my life, and plenty of holidays under my belt, this holiday has been by far the best in many ways.
The place and views are amazing, Kiran is the most welcoming host I’ve ever met, she really makes you feel at home and nothing is ever too much trouble.
My first days fishing saw me catch my PB of 29lb 2oz mirror carp, this set the weeks fishing of to a tee.
As a wannabe photographer, Etang de Planchon gave me plenty of opportunity to capture some fantastic views and sights!! Plenty of big fish were caught and plenty of pictures were taken.
For me personally, what made the holiday the best to date was the food, Kiran makes the most wonderful home made food I’ve ever ever ever had, out of this world.
A days fishing then an evening meal sat outside overlooking the lake with good food, great company, what more could you ask for.
Now a special mention about the 2 dogs!! Cookie is so cute and an incredibly loving and affectionate pooch. Leo is by far the biggest pooch I’ve ever seen, more like a polar bear than a dog! He may be the biggest, but he is definitely the softest lump of white fur in this world!!

So to sum the week up, world class, mouth watering, belly hurting, side splitting, fish catching BLISS.

Where to start?
The welcome Kiran gave us was more than we could possibly have hoped for, the whole week was absolutely superb. The food was the best quality I have experienced anywhere in France, the fishing was so productive for all our group and your hospitality was above and beyond all our expectations.

What a lovely week we have had! The Gite is lovely, spacious and airy. The views are wonderful over the lake, which look different at different times of the day, misty in the morning and glorious Autumn colours in the afternoon. It must be a haven for those keen anglers.
The gite is extremely well equipped everything you need is available and more.
A big thank you to our host, Kiran who was extremely helpful. She was willing to help in any way and was a font of knowledge on the area and yet was not imposing on your privacy.

What a holiday!!! as soon as we arrived I knew I would enjoy every minute, the host ws brilliant, gave brilliant advice about where the best swims were, what bait to use etc, and the food was out of this world.
All in all I caught 4 fish that were in perfect condition and solid fighters, all in just 3 days fishing.
The wildlife added to the holiday nicely with just 2 of us having the whole lak to oursleves, what more could I ask for.

This weekend was our first ever visit to the lake and we know for a fact it will be the first of many!! Beautiful setting, beautiful fish and an even more beautiful host! We can't thank Kiran enough for making our first trip to France so special. Your home made food was amazing as was your hospitality. As for the fishing what can we say... we didn't want to come home lol! The fish were immaculate and gave some great fights (the ones we actually got in the net that is lol!)But on a serious note we would highly recommend this wonderful venue to every crazy carper out there looking for a great water to catch some brilliant fish. What can we say that hasn't already been said? Call us cynics, but we read the reviews before we arrived and thought nowhere could possibly be that good. How wrong we were!
Everything about the place surpassed our expectations. The venue is spectacular, the food and the fishing are superb and the host, Kiran, goes out of her way to tend to your every need. Nothing is too much trouble, whether its help landing a fish at 1am or a trip to the supermarket to load up with supplies, she is there (does she ever sleep, we ask ourselves?)
We were a little nervous about our first trip to France, but we needn't have worried. Our host was always on hand with good advice and tips when needed. Tom's broken leg prevented us from fishing a full night, but we were still able to land a total of 28 fish in a week between the two of us. The biggest being 28lb 8oz (not bad for two relative novices!)
If you want a week of pure fishing you can chain yourself to your bivvy and have your meals delivered to your swim. If you fancy a more social atmosphere, then you will be welcomed up at the house for a drink (or six),invited to meet the neighbours and before you know it you'll be settled on the sofa for the night with two dogs on your lap!
If only we could have fitted them both in our suitcase...
We've been home less than 24 hours and we are already planning our next trip. Can't wait!

Brilliant once again !!!!! 4 days fishing with 26 fish being caught. Biggest a 34.2 lb Mirror and most others mid to upper 20s. The commons love a FIGHT !! Great food as usual and the host bent over backwards to help. Will be back early next year.

Hi just like to let everyone know what a great venue this is had two weeks holiday with my wife and dog. We stayed in the spacious Gite which had everything that you could think of to make our stay great, it was a godsend staying in the Gite for the first 5 days because the rain was continuous, then the weather turned lovely.
The fishing was excellent landed 17 fish lost a few and they were all STUNNING LOOKING FISH.
The lake and surroundings were a picture.
Kiran was great with advice on where to fish and to point out features etc.

Consistency! Everyone had the same experience as did we. Kiran is just amazing and deserves success for the effort she puts into her business. The Lake and surrounding is wonderfully maintained, nice spacious swims, excellent equipment, in beautiful surroundings. The wildlife is abundant, and it’s that quiet you can almost hear your own heart beat. The food is amazing and the effort she puts in to cater for everyones personal tastes is enormous, nothing is too much trouble. Kiran even helped entertain my two youngest non-fishing children.
Those looking for accommodation other than the bivvy- we were a party of eight for the first week and seven the second week and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the Gite, and surrounding area.
Do you know I can’t remember why we went there? Oh yeah! THE CARP, mint condition, good fighters, and an average weight for me of 24lb+, with two pb's.
However unfortunately I do have some complaints.
1. Kiran wouldn’t let me bring my two dogs home with me! We all adored Leo & Cookie (my little darlin) so much.
2. I think I've put on a few pounds.
3. Why did we have to leave?

I spent 4 days at Planchon. I hired all the equipment which is top quality. The lake is a lovely setting with some big carp regularly crashing on the surface. Kingfishers are a common sight and a flock of sandpipers (two indications of water quality).
Visitors will enjoy the lake and fishing enormously, providing they can tear themselves away from the fantastic food Kiran serves, and the huge portions. You won’t find a more welcoming host.
Don’t hesitate, book it.

What a fantastic week 55 fish between 3 of us the food and hospitality was second to none 100% recommended to anyone. Cant wait to get back out there thank you so much for a top week.

What a week! I managed to beat my PB no less than five times. All the fish were in pristine condition and fought like dogs right to the bank.
The host was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The lake is stunning and the food was second to none, in fact 5* all round. The only thing I didn’t like about the place was having to leave at the end of the week.

What can I say our first fishing holiday to France was truly class the weather wasn’t brilliant it rained none stop for 5 days but we got through it. We both smashed our pb with a good number of big fish from a really beautiful lake with beautiful surroundings.
Kiran was a top class host nothing was too much trouble. She is a fantastic cook and made you welcome day and night I would defo recommend it to any carp angler who’s planning a trip to France.

Although the fishing wasn't at its best last week due to the heat (although I did manage 8 fish capped by a 30lb common), we all had a great week. We were treated like royalty from the minute we drove up to the house to being waved off at the end of the week. Kiran is a fantastic host and definitely knows how to please a group of hungry anglers, I don't think I've ever eaten so much in 7 days, and the food was top notch.
Nothing was too much to ask all week, and Kiran even made a couple of baguettes for the journey home (which was a god send!).
All in all it was a fantastic week with everything you could ask for on a fishing holiday!!

I firstly want to thank you for a great week at Planchon me and wes were treated like kings nothing was to much for you to do for us, the set up was excellent the food was magnificent the fishing didn't happen for me but at least I didn’t blank my 1fish of 22lb was very welcome and I thought I was going to have a smashing week fish wise but hey that's fishing the company and everything made it a great week for myself, and Wesley said he had the time of his life and actually it was the best fishing week he had ever had breaking his p.b 8 times with his ten fish to "27lb so a big thumbs up for Planchon and everything that goes with it

I had an absolutely fantastic week, despite the slow fishing.

Kiran couldn't have been a better host and we were made to feel so at home, the food was amazing, from the little personal touches to the sheer belly busting portions.

The fishing wasn't the best as I said, mainly due to the heat (38-40) and general stillness of the air for the first 3 days, the fish really didn't play ball, but despite that I still managed to winkle 6 out, including the biggest Mirror of the week, so all was not lost.

Can thoroughly recommend Etang De Planchon to both French newcomers and seasoned travellers alike, although only a small venue, if offers everything you could possibly wish for. 10/10

Just got back from fishing here in weather not ideal 4 carp fishing (40 degree heat), and I still caught ten fish with a combined weight of 231 pound's, the biggest 27lb and smallest 17lb 8oz, had gr8 fun all week lots of good advice of were to put those baits and what can u say about the food omg it was fantastic.
Yep I loved my first trip across the channel, didn't wanna come home.

This was my first time to France and what a great time I had, Kiran made feel at home from the moment we turned up. The food was lover'lly!! The fishing was great! I’m gonna be going back next year to catch the 30lbder!! that got away.

What an amazing week and experience. I was fishing the 1st week of April, the weather was glorious, the hospitality was out of this world and well worth the all inclusive package deal. The owner was extremely helpful and made me feel very welcome, available 24/7 to help with anything and everything...hoping to return again in the future.

Where do you start when everything was perfect from start to end. This was my 1st fishing trip to France and it was incredible.
Kiran is the nicest of people and now a friend forever. This lady is an amazing host and all her hard work is paying off ten fold. She can cook better than the top chefs, keep your spirits high when the fishing went quiet ( for 1 day ), she will teach you things that you hadn’t quiet mastered yourself, like holding for the perfect picture which can sometimes be a little tricky when your holding a 31.6 lb wriggly common. There’s just nothing that stops this lady being a great host.
I was never allowed a big dog before my wife met Leo, so a big big thanks to Leo for being well behaved and helping me twist her arm :) Cookie is a little charmer with the awesomest hair do.
I went for a week and caught 15 lovely looking fish and also smashed my pb. This is a venue that’s going to shine for years to come. From start to end this is a 5 star venue and 10/10 for everything. We are now starting to plan our return to Etang de Planchon for next year, it just can’t come round quick enough.

We do not fish and so this is not a fisherman's tale; we booked the Gite for 3 days - and stayed 2 weeks!
Kiran is the most hospitable host ever. Nothing was too much trouble for her. And when Tom fell ill she went out of her way to get him to a doctor, took phone messages from our children in South Africa, invited us to the anglers' barbecue and other suppers and generally looked after all our needs. Plus she found us an electrician and a carpenter we needed for work on our house.
There's just nothing she wouldn't do. And boy, does she spoil the anglers.
Whether you're fishing or not, Etang de Planchon is the place to stay. And we miss Cookie and Leo a lot! Well, maybe Leo more than Cookie!
Here's power to your rods Kiran. And the biggest thank you ever.

We think this stay brought new horizons to Freya (our daughter), like being out doors for so much of the time when all 16 year olds are used to staying in bed during the day even when school is running. As for holding a large carp - totally unbelievable.

Had the best time of my life and the best fishing experience by far.
I have only just left and I am already planning on a return trip next year. I fished to the best of my ability and with Kiran's help I landed 19 fish, the biggest was at 31lbs 2oz. I fished over two big beds of bait which was hemp, pellet, and boilie.
Not only that but Kiran is amazing and will do anything to help you out and make you feel right at home.
The two dogs are well behaved and playful.
I can't wait to return next year, see you soon!

Just want to say that I had a brilliant time , it was easily the best angling holiday so far, the company was excellent , the lake and fishing were perfect , the home cooked meals were stunning, cant wait to get back out there.

I’ve been waiting for this trip for ages, its not helped that I’ve been off the bank for nearly 8 months and have had some serious withdrawal symptoms, but they were soon to disperse.
From the moment we landed we were greeted by very friendly hosts inc Cookie and Leo, the two best well behaved dogs I’ve ever met on the bank side.
we were made to feel more than welcome with cold beers on the go from the off and home cooked food which was truly exquisite.
We did not have to wait long before the alarms were screaming and the rods bent double and this was to continue for the course of the week. we caught stacks of carp inc 5 30s.
We all had a fantastic time and will definitely be heading back across the channel for more good times asap.
I’d recommend to anyone who likes great food great company great surroundings and of course mahoosive carp.

I have been following the development of the lake since they started and can’t believe how far they have come.
Me, my brother Scott and mate Richard had planned this trip for some time, when it finally came round and we arrived in France we were greeted with a smile and names on a board, we had a laugh on the way to the lake taking in the French countryside and knew this was going to be an awesome week.
When we got to the lake Kiran greeted us with a smile and asked if we wanted a beer, it was very welcome indeed, Leo and cookie had plenty to say as well.
We took a slow walk around the lake and were given details of what had been going on and possible hotspots to fish which we were more than happy to take on board, our gear was loaded and dropped at our chosen pegs, we set up and started what was to be a fantastic week, we caught loads of beautiful fish including 5 30+ carp between us, we were made up.
Our food was spot on and couldn’t ask for more cold beer and good laughs, we had a blast and we were treated like friends rather than just people fishing.
Go back again? Damn right! recommend them to others? Oh yes!

Well, what can I say? My first trip to France and I loved it. The food was amazing. The hospitality was second to none.
I have never met nicer people who were willing to do anything for you to make sure your trip was as pleasant and enjoyable as possible.
On the fishing side of things I managed 11 fish including 3 thirties, 32lb 35lb and 38lb, (My fishing partner caught 17 fish up to 27lb as he was targeting the smaller stock of fish) but hopefully later on in the year I will be back at the venue. I can't wait!

Well I honestly do not know where to start. I have been visiting France twice a year for the past 6 years for my fishing and I have to say I have never been so well looked after as I was at Etang de Planchon.
Kirans hospitality is second to none, she makes you feel so welcome and nothing and I mean nothing is 2 much trouble. I ran out of tobacco on my 4th day, within 30 mins Kiran had been to the shops and bought some for me (along with some sweeties) and hand delivered it to my swim.
I was silly enough to burn my feet stalking one day and Kiran fixed me up so I was comfortable for the remainder of my holiday.
On the fishing front I had 17 fish between Wednesday morning and Saturday eve biggest of 28lb, My fishing partner for the week had 11 fish (3 30s to 38lb). I did not fish the 1st two days as the fish were spawning hard and it was better all round I left them to it and stayed well out the way. Kiran appreciated my care for her fish but was concerned I would get a little bored and offered to take me out one day on sight seeing trips, which I did not take her up on as a good book and sleep seemed to fill the 2 days nicely.
I will finish my comments by saying god can this girl cook and portion control is not in her vocabulary.

Just returned from a week at the Gite of Etang de Planchon and wanted to thank Kiran for being such a great host.
The Gite itself is very clean, spacious and very good value and the surrounding countryside is beautiful and tranquil. Above everything else though, Kiran makes you feel very much at home and was exceptionally accommodating during my time there. I would highly recommend a week at Le Planchon and just wanted to wish Kiran all the best for the future.

As seasoned French carp anglers, we thought we would have a change from our normal venues.
Visiting etang de plachon for the first time, in my experience, was the most enjoyable stay I have had anywhere. The hospitality was second to none, and regarding the fishing in its first year you can not fault.
I was able to get a bend in my rod and caught 31 carp up to a beautiful common of 33lb, its not a rainbow or paradise but who knows in the future it could be. I will certainly be back very soon.

If you are looking for a carp fishing in france trip that you want to come away with feeling like you have been on holiday then this is the place. When fishing 24s and 48s at home I never seem to be able to relax, there's always meals that need cooking or trips to and from the car for liquid refreshments etc. however my brother and I actually came away feeling like you do after a week abroad somewhere - totally chilled and huge smiles.

The fishing was superb, ideal for an introduction to fishing in France or for those seasoned veterans that want a bit more of a laid back experience. The carp are pristine, fight like bulldozers and have huge frames on them - with the quality of the bait going in, they will be real leviathons in no time at all.

Hospitality is second to none, everything we needed was taken care of and the food rivals anything your mother used to make - not once did we have a bad meal. The local wine is great as are the beers and you must insist on Kiran's home made chocolate cake!

Initially I had reservations about using someone elses rods, reels etc. however Kiran has chosen gear that suits the lake very well and next time I go I will be taking even less of my own stuff. Speaking of which, I am actually looking forward to getting back to work but only so I can check the holiday rota and (money permitting) get myself back there towards the end of the summer.

To sum it up; a perfect fishing holiday! Thanks for making it everything I hoped for!!!

Arriving at the lake ( after a little de-tour) as said in a previous post!! We had a great greeting with a beer or a glass of wine, I had both ....Very nice ..lol looking out from the veranda towards the lake we were all itching to get the gear out after quite a long trip. We had a chat to the guys who were leaving and then we picked our swims .Jenni (my wife) and I set up in Harrier swim ~The wind was blowing down to the damm end of the lake but was due to change sunday night and it did, pushing some fish into my swim 7 fish were landed on monday up to 39 lbs (my new pb).The wind blew more or less into my swim all week and I had some great fishing, 24 Carp landed in the week and i did not fish for 2 of the nights !! The fish are stunners and credit has to go the the lake owner ... Great host, The food was very good (I would recommend the food package)This place ticks all the boxes ! And some great banter as well ...Which I will not go into cos my French was not too good when talking to some of the locals there !!!!! Dropped myself right in it trying to be clever !!! All in all 10 out of 10 . Cant wait to get the chance to go back again have have another great time.
If anyone is thinking of a trip to France look at Etang de Planchon. 1st timers or well traveled fishermen . This place is going to get better and better!!

Well having drove down from East Anglia to Planchon, hit a hurdle cos we could not find the place. After a quick phone call Kiran turned up within two minutes to take us to the lake.
After a super welcome swims were chosen and the setting up began.
The fishing was good, I had the wind to begin with, then it changed to the other end of the lake, where the other guys benifited.
Whilst out there it was Kirans and my birthdays, a good time was had by all.
Le Planchon, the swims are roomy and well laid out.The anglers toilets, shower and kitchen area were clean, well stocked with tea, coffee etc.
The food was out of this world anything you wanted you got.
The staff, very very helpful, and cheeky.....
The lake is great, once its matured it will look fantastic.
The fish, well looked after and in immaculate condition.
The supplied tackle (fish care equipment) was good leaving you with no worries.
Would i go back again.....if you will have me Kiran, a big yes.
When you require a full time bailiff you have my number.
To anyone who has never been to France fishing before, this is the ideal place to start. Or if you just want to revisit France for some good fishing, great hospitality, then Etang de Planchon is the place for you.

I just wanted to add my piece to all of your great reviews. I’ve just returned from Planchon after a week’s fishing with a group from my forum (www.happy-hookers.org) It was my first visit to France, but one that has given me the desire to return again and again. Between 5 anglers , we had 70 fish including 7 30’s. On a personal note, I bettered my PB no less than six times which included two thirties, the biggest being 33lb 4oz. My wife also had two thirties to 32lb 8oz, albeit haven taken her first on one of my rods…..but I’ve forgiven her!!
I know that all of the Happyhookers crew will agree, when I say that the welcome and ensuing hospitality shown to us by Kiran was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble, even to the point where she provided an alternative menu for me personally, as I’m a nightmare when it comes to food. The facilities are excellent, the fishing was superb and certainly the best week’s fishing I’ve ever had. The whole package is completed with the tranquil setting. The lake will look exceptional once the trees have matured and the grass has re-grown.
We are all looking forward to a return trip, one that cannot come quick enough.

WHAT A WEEK!!!
Unbelievable.
That was by far the best weeks fishing I've ever had in my life and I've been fishing for 26 years.

The fishing was awsome, smashing my P.B. from 17lb to 30lb 4oz with a stunning mirror.

I would like to thank again the owner of the lake, Kiran, for the great food and hospitality. (and for showing me how to hold a carp for a good picture)

I'm 100% sure I will be returning to Etang de Planchon for another holiday. I just hope it's this year so I don't have to wait until next year.

I highly recomend this lake for the fishing, the food and the surroundings.

The fishing:

Me and a mate did a week at Etang de Planchon and have just arrived back, I already had a swim in mind before I got to the lake which was falcon so I decided to fish in that peg and see how things progressed through the week, and I also opted for the bait boat just to make life a bit easier, we arrived at the lake in the morning but I didn't start fishing until 5 and I only had just put my first rod out and straight away 5 minutes after I was into my first fish which was a 24.5lb mirror which started the ball rolling for me.

Catch list:

24.5lb, 22lb, 23lb, 25lb, 23.4lb, 23lb, 23.5lb, 25lb, 37lb, 22.5lb, 29lb, 20lb, 34lb, 21lb, 18.5lb 24lb, 27lb, 27.5lb

I couldn't stop buzzing as soon as I had the 37lb mirror even though it was probably -3 at 5 in the morning and I was hanging

Swims

The swims are great, very well sized, two of the swims could take two 2 man bivvys they are that big but all of the swims are very spacious and the rest could probably fit two 1 man bivvy's, although owl is the smallest swim I had no problems and found it ideal, I would also say to watch the amount of bait that you put in I found if I over fed the swim they spent too much time feeding on the particle and pellet rather than taking my rig so I would say start off slow, also there are a few rocks on the bottom the fish will run to so be aware of this,

Hospitality:

This is the best holiday I have ever been on, and I’ve travelled to quite a lot of places. Kiran will go out of her way to make sure you have a great stress free holiday, and the food she cooks is 5* in my opinion, I wish my missus could cook like she can, I couldn't fault the food in anyway and the desserts are to die for, she would always make sure all the anglers are ok and bring them bait, food, end tackle if needed which was great, she was very helpful when I got to the lake and answered pretty much all the questions I had on the lake.

Facilities

I was so engrossed in fishing I never wanted to leave my rods or bring them out so Kiran kindly would bring my breakfast down to me with a coffee which was gorgeous I was so hooked I didn’t have a shower until the last day but when I did have a shower I wished I had more as the anglers bathroom was really nice unlike some fisheries where you would rather just not go, Kiran cleaned the anglers area everyday and it was in top notch condition and she also put out snacks every day which I scoffed before anyone had a chance to know they were out.

This fishery is ideal for everyone, experience, inexperienced, with kids/family

To sum it up which is hard to because I cant even put down the right words to explain how much of a good time I had, the fishing was amazing, food was some of the best I’ve ever had, and Kiran will go to great lengths to make sure you're happy, if you can fault this lake there’s got to be something wrong with you. I shall be booking up for next year for 2 weeks very soon.

Well I can’t put down in words how much of a great time I had during the opening week at Etang De Planchon, the fishing was fantastic and the food was top class... and I honestly can’t find fault in any part of the holiday.
The fishing kicked off right away as I had my first fish within a very short time of casting my first rod out, and the fact it was a stunning 31lb uncaught mirror made it even better!!! throughout the week I had 11 carp in total, with four of them being over 30lb and to me this has been the best weeks fishing I have ever had.. Roll on next year when me and the lads will be back again.
The food that was prepared for us by Kiran was absolutely fantastic and really was the icing on the cake for me as I really do like my grub and I have to say that anyone that decides to go for the food package will not be disappointed in the slightest bit.

Me and a couple of the lads were lucky enough to get on Etang de Planchon for the opening week.
We arrived a day early in order to scope the lake and get our gear set up the plan was to get some bait in have a bite to eat and then start fishing at first light, needless to say with fish topping all over the place we were eager to get down there, so after a superb lunch and several cups of tea we got down to the lake with the gear.
We opted to fly out and use the equipment supplied as it is of a good standard and brand new ! The equipment was driven down to the swims and the bivvys were set up for us while we got to work on the rods and the baits. Andy was the first to catch with a 31lb mirror followed by Gary and eventually even me after a whole 45 minutes !!! after several fish in the first three hours including two thirties we decided to bring the rods in for the night and head up to the house for the lake opening party. Needless to say the hospitality and food was superb and after several shandys we decided the best idea would be to leave the rods in for the night and start of first thing in the morning after a few hours of well deserved sleep.

Even though the weather conditions were extreme 18-20 degrees through the day and down to minus 6 at night, we continued to catch steadily throughout the week. Gary obviously being ahead of the pack ending up on 28 fish including 5 thirties to 39.5 lbs something i will never hear the end of no doubt.

We moved the meal times daily in order to suit what we thought were optimum time for a bit based on the previous days catch results and it was never a problem for Kiran a couple of days we even ate in the swims and the food was of the same brilliant standard as we got in the house. I,am not sure whether there was a munchkin in the anglers area but everytime I went in there somebody had cleaned it and refurbished it with more plates of munchies.

Kiran made several trips to shops for me and the other lads for everything from cigarettes to t shirts for some dopey person who didn’t pack enough.
All in all we had a fantastic week were spoiled rotten from the minute we arrived the food, the fishing, the service and I can assure that anybody who has booked up to fish it will have a brilliant time and will without a doubt catch some beautiful looking lumps.

Me and my two friends Dean and Andy had a week at etang de planchon.
There was a total of 48 carp caught with a 11 of these being over 30lb My catch is as follows:
27 carp with 5 over 30 to 39 lbs and a lovely common at 34.10 lb and many over 25 lb with a average of 25.4 lb with the most of my fish falling to pink pepper pop ups and 20.mm trigga (lake specials).
It was the best carp fishing I've ever had and I've put a least a stone on due to the pukka food and all three of us enjoyed it so much that we have already booked up for next year.

Having never fished in France before it was quite difficult finding a venue from scratch, after sending a few emails it has become apparent that there are two types of lake in France, one that will take your money and let you fish and the other that will do everything possible to ensure your trip runs smooth and is unforgetable. Etang de Planchon is most certainly the latter; Kiran has literally bent over backwards in order to ensure my brother and I's trip in April is exactly to our needs and requirements.

Right from the initial questions about the venue in general, down to the nitty grittys like arrival time and equipment hire, nothing was too much trouble. If the fishing is half as good as the service I have received you are going to have a hard time getting us off the lake!

I was just looking at the photos of the fish stock they look like cracking carp.
Me and Alex can't wait to come down, not long left now till April and I am counting the days.

I have to say the lake looks awesome and the swims look fantastic with lots of room, cant wait to fish it in may with my brother.
We have been going over how and where we want to fish it and it changes every day, just took a look at the new carp going in they are stunning, hope all is going well, speak soon.

We had the pleasure of spending a few days at Etang de Planchon. The beautiful lake is set in picturesque surroundings, so peaceful and relaxing – ideal place to go carp fishing. It’s clear that the owner/hosts are committed to ensuring everyone (even non fishing people – like us) have a wonderful experience. Totally friendly atmosphere, excellent food, wine and conversation, we are looking forward to our next visit. Thank you for your warm hospitality.

A wonderful lake, beautiful surroundings and great facilities...what more could you ask for? The various trip packages look excellent and with such a friendly and accommodating owner, Etang de Planchon is really going to be a hit amongst anglers. Once those big carp are bedded in, I'm certain this will be one of the great fishing venues in France!

i'm booked on for 2 weeks on the opening week for this fishery. virgin carp to go at. so far the service has been excellent.

What can I say? simply brilliant, the lake looks fantastic, the packages sound great and the friendly atmosphere brilliant, everytime I've needed a question answered, or just to keep in touch they have been great, cant wait to see you next year, keep up the good work guys.

This looks like a beautiful place to fish and I know the owner will provide a first class service. The owner is extremely passionate about fishing and the care of the fish, which I expect will all be stunners. I've sampled the cooking already so can't wait to sample a curry or two after banking the lake record! See you there.

This is an extremely beautiful and tranquil venue which is very well maintained and very easy to get to. The owner is very hospitable and will aid you in any way they can. The cuisine is fantastic and caters for various needs (i.e vegetarians and children). Looking forward to receiving your newsletters and fishing next spring, I want to be one of the first to fish the lake when it open in March 2011.
